Race Ten : (360) - TSZ WAN SHAN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 ARMOUR WAR EAGLE (J039) M L Yeung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 THE HEIR (H459) H Bowman On straightening was held up when disappointed for clear running between STORM RIDER and RAGNARR which endeavoured to hold its ground and as a result continued to be held up for clear running for some distance until after passing the 300 Metres.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 RUN RUN COOL (E322) L Ferraris Held up rounding the Home Turn and was unable to obtain clear running until approaching the 300 Metres.
Horse No 6 ZOOM BOOM (G131) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly and was subsequently slowly away.
Was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Held up rounding the Home Turn and was unable to obtain clear running until near the 300 Metres.
Was again held up for clear running from the 200 Metres until the 100 Metres.
Horse No 7 HONG KONG HALL (G315) E C W Wong After the race, Apprentice E C W Wong reported that his mount travelled too keenly in the early and middle stages and may not be suited to the step-up in distance of today's race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.
Before being allowed to race again, HONG KONG HALL will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 8 MIDORI BURLY (J083) M F Poon Held up rounding the Home Turn and was unable to obtain clear running until after passing the 300 Metres.

Trainer Y S Tsui was fined the sum of $2,000 for presenting MILES OF STAR with a set of incorrect racing colours at the Sha Tin barrier trials on Thursday, 18 January 2024 in breach of Trainers' Handbook Instruction 40.

Racing Laboratory tests of HAPPY HORSE, HAPPY TANGO, MODEST GENTLEMAN, LOVERO, SIMPLY MAVERICK, AMAZING TEENS, RED HARE KING, MEGA BONUS, HIGH RISE SOLDIER, LYRICAL MOTION, SUPER EAGLE, HELENE FEELING, HAPPY TOGETHER, LA CITY BLANCHE, ESCAPE ROUTE, LEAN HERO, PRIME MINISTER, COPARTNER AMBITION, CELESTIAL COLOURS and HEALTHY HEALTHY (10.1.24) proved negative.

Storm Rider was too smart after moving to the front 300m out following a pace-stalking run for a second win despite a rise in class plus a second from as many starts. The Heir ran on steadily to just take second after a rails run from midfield. He's racing well without winning. Silver Up closed nicely to just miss second after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He proved a longer-priced third last start was not a fluke. Endeared stayed on well for fourth after a wide without cover run parked midfield from a wide draw. He clearly has the tools to hold his own in this grade. Run Run Cool came from last after peeling wides out at the 300m to nearly fill the frame at massive odds. It was his best run of the campaign with a step up to 1,400m. Zoom Boom ran on steadily near the inside to finish next best after biding his time two from the rear. He's not easy to get right. Both Lost Child and Midori Burly ran on without threatening from the second half of the field. Armour War Eagle disappointed after getting all favours in the box seat with a step up to 1,400m. He couldn't back up a debut second at huge odds over 1,200m.
