Recap by phillip woo

The heavily-backed Universal Horizon prevailed in a blanket finish, with the first eight horses crossing the line within a length of each other. Positioned two back on the rail by jockey Jerry Chau Chun-lok, Universal Horizon dug deep late to cross the line a short head in front of Karma, Silver Up and Beato. A winner over 1,400m this season, Karma showed he's also capable at a mile by running second, while Silver Up turned in an improved showing to run third after a last-start ninth. Favourite Beato couldn't continue his winning form after breaking his Hong Kong maiden last start, finishing fourth under Zac Purton. Soleil Fighter stuck on nicely after travelling second to run fifth, a neck off the winner, while Beauty Fit was close behind him in sixth. Frantanck finished seventh after leading, while Zoom Boom sailed home from near the rear to run eighth, only a length off Universal Horizon.
