Recap by phillip woo

Mr Ascendency kept on gamely after slipping through along the inside to lead 150m out following a prominent run for back-to-back wins following a Valley success. Telecom Fighters wouldn't go down without a fight after clearing to the lead from gate five. He nearly pinched the race after setting a slow pace on return to the surface of placings in two of seven past starts. Favourite Alacrity ran on nicely to finish a close third after a one-off trip from midfield. He's made a good impression in both starts over the dirt 1,650m. Berlin Tango made ground late for fourth after a rail run from behind midfield. It was his best run of the campaign. Apache Pass gradually faded after going forward to track the leader 1,200m out from an awkward gate. Galaxy Witness ran on without threatening after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He didn't get the tempo to suit. Favourite Adefill couldn't get involved travelling third last. He was up in grade but didn't appreciate the slow pace.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (467) - KENT HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 TELECOM FIGHTERS (D482) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 ALL FOR ST PAUL'S (C517) Y L Chung Bumped at the start.

After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that his mount was crossed in the early stages by APACHE PASS and, in his view, it races best when able to dictate from in front.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 MR ASCENDENCY (G227) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 NORDIC DRAGON (G467) B Avdulla From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

When being shifted across behind runners near the 1500 Metres raced keenly and got its head up.

Horse No 5 APACHE PASS (D433) K C Leung Near the 200 Metres was awkwardly placed close to TELECOM FIGHTERS when that runner shifted out and when being corrected K C Leung dropped his left rein for a short distance.

After the race, K C Leung stated that his intention was to find cover in the early stages, but due to the slow pace and when positioned to the outside of ALL FOR ST PAUL'S in the early stages, he was obliged to allow his mount to stride forward and raced in a more forward position than what he had anticipated.

Horse No 7 GALAXY WITNESS (G110) K Teetan Jumped only fairly and was bumped shortly after the start.

Horse No 8 YOUTHFUL DEAL (G340) B Thompson Crowded on jumping and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 9 ADEFILL (G317) A Hamelin Bumped at the start.

When questioned, A Hamelin stated that he was asked to endeavour to hold a midfield position, but from an awkward barrier he was obliged to settle slightly further back than anticipated.

He added with the slow pace in the early and middle stages, the race developed into a sprint home which resulted in ADEFILL not being able to make up any appreciable ground in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 BERLIN TANGO (E120) M Chadwick Bumped on jumping.
