Recap by phillip woo

After getting headed 650m out, Celestial Colours fought back to get the better of favourite Kaholo Angel in the closing stages for a first win at his fifth local start. Kaholo Angel found one too good after driving to the front 650m out. He's run well with seconds in both outings over the Valley 1,200m. Golden Empire just got the better of California Deeply for third after a prominent run along the inside. He was able to back up an upset win on his last start. California Deeply just failed to get up for third from midfield on the fence. It was a good effort stepping beyond 1,000m for the first time. Golden Long ran on without threatening after making his run from third last following a tardy break. It was an OK effort in a higher grade following a last-start second. Happy Trio chased the speed early on and only plodded when asked for more after getting posted wide. He might be near his mark on the back of two recent runs at this level. Watch Buddy only beat a couple after settling last from a wide draw. It was always going to be a tough task carrying top weight from the widest draw following back-to-back wins.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (481) - THE KWOON CHUNG BUS CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 WATCH BUDDY (H185) H Bentley After the race, H Bentley reported that his instructions were to endeavour to hold a more forward position.

He said in the early stages WATCH BUDDY did not show sufficient pace to do so and as a result was caught wide and back in the field.

He added making the first turn he was hampered when GOOD LUCK WIN shifted out and WATCH BUDDY did not travel well thereafter and failed to finish the race off.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 CELESTIAL COLOURS (H362) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 KAHOLO ANGEL (H216) E C W Wong Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 CALIFORNIA DEEPLY (G451) L Ferraris Near the 50 Metres was shifted to the outside of KAHOLO ANGEL to continue into clear running.

Horse No 6 GOLDEN TITLE (H100) Y L Chung Lay in in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 GOOD LUCK WIN (J135) A Badel Jumped only fairly.

Approaching the 1000 Metres shifted out when being steadied away from GOLDEN LONG.

Horse No 9 GOLDEN LONG (H462) M Chadwick Approaching the 1000 Metres lay in towards CALIFORNIA DEEPLY and was steadied.

When questioned, M Chadwick stated that the intention was to hold an on-pace position if possible.

He said GOLDEN LONG jumped awkwardly and as a result lost ground.

He said in the early stages he did not feel his mount was showing sufficient pace to hold out GOLDEN TITLE and as a result that runner was able to cross his mount in the early stages, resulting in GOLDEN LONG settling further back than what had been intended.
