Recap by phillip woo

After hitting the front 180m out following a perfectly executed run in the one-one spot from gate three, High Percentage drew clear for a first win at his 11th start. He was able to brush off a last-start defeat when lame and with blood in his trachea. Golden Link kept on gamely for second after tracking the speed one off the fence from gate 12. He can salute from a better draw. Exuberant ran on steadily for third after a rails run from behind midfield. It was a return to form off a break. Punted late, Hero Star gradually faded after dictating the run from gate two. He might be able to get away with a race shortly in Class Five. Tattenham only plodded after a box-seat run. He's limited. Speedy Chariot ran on without threatening after biding his time three from the rear. Telecom Speed whacked on one paced after a one-off trip from midfield. You can forgive the run of early favourite Glory Cloud, who faded after getting posted wide without cover the entire trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (516) - WONG NAI CHUNG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 TELECOM SPEED (G259) Y L Chung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 SCOTCH TYCOON (G088) L Ferraris Shifted in abruptly on jumping, became unbalanced and made contact with GLORY CLOUD.

Was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages when caught wide.

After the race, L Ferraris reported that his mount made an abnormal respiratory noise during the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea and also found it to have a continuous epiglottic entrapment.

Before being allowed to race again, SCOTCH TYCOON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 3 EXUBERANT (E282) C L Chau Shortly after the start raced tight between HIGH PERCENTAGE and TELECOM SPEED, both of which shifted ground slightly.

Horse No 4 GLORY CLOUD (H320) H Bentley On jumping was checked when crowded by SCOTCH TYCOON which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider L Ferraris.

When questioned, H Bentley stated that after being crowded at the start he rode his mount along in an endeavour to hold his position to the inside of SCOTCH TYCOON.

He said as a result GLORY CLOUD commenced to race keenly and was hampered making the first turn when MOLLY'S WITNESS shifted out.

He added throughout he event GLORY CLOUD hung out, raced too keenly which resulted in it racing wide and without cover and as a result did not finish the race off in the Home Straight.

The racing manners and performance of GLORY CLOUD were considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, GLORY CLOUD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 MOLLY'S WITNESS (J121) A Hamelin Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped SPEEDY CHARIOT.

Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and near the 900 Metres was steadied away from GLORY CLOUD (H Bentley) which shifted in when not quite clear.

H Bentley was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 7 FALCON COURT (J056) L Hewitson From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 8 SPEEDY CHARIOT (H193) M Chadwick Bumped shortly after the start.

Horse No 10 GOLDEN LINK (D222) K C Leung After the race, K C Leung stated that from the outside barrier he was instructed to hold a forward position but not necessarily lead.

He said when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to continue forward to cross runners to his inside which resulted in GOLDEN LINK racing outside the leader HERO STAR.

Trainer P F Yiu confirmed the instructions and advised he issued such instructions as on previous occasions when GOLDEN LINK had settled back from a wide barrier it raced in a disappointing manner.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 HIGH PERCENTAGE (G413) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
