Recap by phillip woo

After a prominent run one off the fence, Samarkand just got up to deny favourite Lovero for a fourth win this season and first in the grade. He'll remain in the grade and another win won't surprise. Lovero found one just too good after claiming the lead 250m out following a speed-tracking run from gate 12. He's a racing well and remains one to follow. Hameron kept on nicely down the outside to make it close on the wire after making his run five back and one off the fence. He did win earlier in the term off a mark two points lower. Eighteen Palms stayed on a close fourth but was given every chance in the box seat. It was another honest effort. Ivy League ran on late to finish next best after settling fourth last from gate 10. It was a typical effort. Dirt specialist So We Joy stayed on OK after a one-off trip from midfield. It wasn't a bad effort outside his comfort zone. June Planet ran on without threatening from towards the rear. He couldn't lift carrying five pounds more following a win. Amazing Duck weakened over the last 100m after dictating the run from gate three. He's found it harder in his past three starts.
