Recap by phillip woo

Early favourite Second To None got up 30m out after getting all favours in the box seat for a second win from five starts. He's a progressive type but will need to lift in a higher grade last start. Well-backed Affirm nearly made all leading from gate five. He relished a return to the surface and distance of a second two runs ago after misfiring on the dirt. Winning Gold ran on nicely down the outside to fill a placing after a patient ride wide travelling four from the rear. He's building towards a win with placings in his past two starts. War Of Courage kept on reasonably well for fourth after a speed-tracking run. He's produced mixed results in seven starts this term. Lucky Fionn ran on steadily to just miss the frame after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was another positive effort with a step up in distance after going well in his first three 1,200m starts. Post-time favourite Sky Heart peaked on his move 100m out following a wide with cover trip from midfield. He couldn't back up a win carrying more weight with a rise in trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (523) - FAY FAY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 SKY HEART (J092) B Shinn When questioned, B Shinn stated that from a wide barrier he was given no specific instructions as to where to settle his mount.

He said after SKY HEART began well, he rode his mount forward in an endeavour to maintain his position but when a number of runners to his inside showed intent on holding a more forward position, he elected to come back and follow TOP PEAK.

He added his decision to obtain cover was influenced by the fact that he would have had to make too much use of his mount to cross runners to his inside and that SKY HEART was up in weight and in distance today and this may have resulted in his mount left without a finishing effort.

B Shinn further stated that after obtaining cover behind TOP PEAK, SKY HEART travelled well, but disappointed in the Home Straight in that it failed to respond strongly to his riding when placed under pressure.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 SECOND TO NONE (H319) L Hewitson Approaching the 200 Metres was shifted out to improve between AFFIRM and WAR OF COURAGE.

When both AFFIRM and WAR OF COURAGE shifted ground slightly, SECOND TO NONE had some difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance thereafter and brushed WAR OF COURAGE.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 WAR OF COURAGE (C483) K H Chan Bumped shortly after the start.

Brushed near the 200 Metres.

Horse No 4 GOOD GOOD (J224) R Moore After the race, R Moore stated that after his mount jumped awkwardly and lost ground, he was obliged to make use of GOOD GOOD throughout the early and middle stages to hold his position.

He said in the Home Straight GOOD GOOD finished the race off in a one-paced manner.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 SOARING BRONCO (J162) H Bentley After the 500 Metres endeavoured to improve into a narrow run between WAR OF COURAGE and TOP PEAK and as a result made contact with the hindquarters of TOP PEAK, resulting in TOP PEAK shifting in and crowding SOARING BRONCO.

Horse No 6 FIGHT TIME (H409) M F Poon Jumped only fairly and then was crowded.

Held up for clear running from the 450 Metres and then shifted to the outside of SKY HEART after the 400 Metres to obtain clear running.

When being shifted out, FIGHT TIME made contact with LUCKY FIONN.

Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out to the finish when held up behind SKY HEART and LUCKY FIONN.

Horse No 7 TRAVEL GOLF (H063) M Chadwick Noted to have sustained a laceration to the left hind leg after the race.

Horse No 9 LUCKY FIONN (J047) A Atzeni On arrival at the Start, the tongue tie applied to LUCKY FIONN was refitted.
