Recap by phillip woo

Newcomer Californiadeepshot won with something in hand after quickly finding the front from a wide gate. He's now unbeaten in three starts after winning both Australian runs and there's plenty more to come from this three-year-old. Post-time favourite Victoriam kept on a clear-cut second after stalking the eventual winner. He was likely beaten by a smart one. Early favourite Hardly Swears kept plugging away following a boxseat run to fill a placing. The long break and bigger weight after a third straight win in November played against him. The three-year-old Superb Daddy closed well from midfield to fill the frame behind some nice types. He was able to build on a pleasing debut effort earlier this month and is crying out for a longer trip. Aurora Pegasus came up flat after over-racing without cover in a prominent spot. He had an excuse. Home Made ran on without menacing from near the back. It was best effort from five starts.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (378) - QUEEN'S ROAD EAST HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

SALTO OLIMPICO began awkwardly and then lost ground when steadied away from the heels of SUPERB DADDY which shifted in on jumping.

HOME MADE shifted out at the start and bumped MOST BEAUTIFUL.

MOST BEAUTIFUL and HOME MADE were then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

DIAMOND KING shifted out at the start and hampered HAPPY WARRIOR.

From a wide barrier, HAPPY WARRIOR was then steadied and shifted across behind runners.

Making the turn near the 1000 Metres, AURORA PEGASUS was taken out by VICTORIAM which got its head up and shifted out when travelling keenly as it was being steadied to allow CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT to cross.

After this, AURORA PEGASUS commenced to travel very keenly and got its head up on a number of occasions.

AURORA PEGASUS then shifted out abruptly near the 950 Metres, resulting in DIAMOND KING being taken wider.

DIAMOND KING subsequently travelled wide and without cover for the remainder of the race with AURORA PEGASUS also travelling wide and without cover until after the 500 Metres.

Approaching the 900 Metres, HOME MADE got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly.

Passing the 500 Metres, SUPERB DADDY raced tight inside ETHIOPIAN YARN which raced tight inside AURORA PEGASUS which lay in towards the heels of VICTORIAM.

T H So (SUPERB DADDY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of ETHIOPIAN YARN, causing that horse to be checked away from the heels of SUPERB DADDY and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

T H So was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 2 February 2020 and to expire on Thursday, 6 February 2020 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey So's good race riding record.

CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT and VICTORIAM were sent for sampling.
