Racing Incident Report
Race Four: (256) - MERCURY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters
SPECIAL M lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and was slow to begin.
When being steadied on jumping to obtain cover, DECISIVE TWELVE shifted out and bumped ASTRO KING.
From the outside barrier, MY ECSTATIC was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
DECISIVE TWELVE travelled keenly when being steadied passing the 900 Metres to obtain cover behind WIND SPEEDER.
After this, DECISIVE TWELVE continued to travel keenly and shifted out away from the heels of WIND SPEEDER approaching the 800 Metres.
ASTRO KING, which was following, was hampered in consequence.
After the 600 Metres, GOOD VIEW CLARICO was left racing wide and without cover.
FABULOUS EIGHT had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Approaching the 150 Metres, STOLTZ shifted in and brushed BRILLIANT FORTUNE.
This resulted in STOLTZ having to be corrected by its rider who changed the whip over from his left hand.
Passing the winning post, SPECIAL M shifted in and bumped STOLTZ.
A veterinary inspection of DECISIVE TWELVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FABULOUS EIGHT, SPECIAL M and STOLTZ were sent for sampling.

Special M ran on strongly to nab newcomer Stoltz on the wire after travelling four back on the fence after a tardy break for a first win at his eighth start. He relished the light weight with a step back in distance. Stoltz did everything right but get the win after surging to the front 150m out following a one-off run chasing the leading pair. It was a fine effort on debut and he will be winning races when the fully acclimatising. Wind Speeder ran on steadily after a one-off trip in midfield to get the head down for third. He proved an improved run last start trying today's trip for the first time was not a fluke. Favourite Fabulous Eight just failed to get up for a placing after a prominent run on the fence. He's a Class Four horse. My Ecstatic ran on without menacing after setting third last from the widest draw. He's better suited over a longer sprint. Brilliant Fortune's run ended 150m out after going forward three deep to vie for the lead with Wine And Wine 850m out. He had an excuse but remains a non-winner from 10 starts and not one to take at short odds. Decisive Twelve only got by beaten rivals from near last. He failed to back up a near win last start carrying a back-breaking weight here.
