Recap by phillip woo

Savvy Delight showed a good turn of foot after settling behind midfield on the fence to run down Oversubscribed in the late stages for a maiden win at his seventh start. He has been promising to do this sort of thing and was suited by the speed up front. Oversubscribed did everything but get the win after hitting the front near the 100m following a rails run in midfield. He had been knocking on the door in his past two starts. Vamos weaved a run late down the centre of the track to fill a placing after a patient ride fourth last and one-off the fence. It was an improved effort following a tactics change. Gorgeous Vitality just failed to snare a placing after switching out sharply for a clear run near the 200m after travelling one-off better than midfield. He's naturally improving with each start. Favourite Pretty Queen Prawn gave up the chase 100m out after a wide run without cover better than midfield the entire trip from a wide draw. He had an excuse. Strive For Glory ran on without menacing from near last after a slow start. Circuit Seven and Super Axiom cut each other up in front. Multimore was withdrawn by order of the stewards on vet advice.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (522) - SZE MEI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters

On arrival at the barriers, K Teetan expressed concern regarding the action of MULTIMORE.

MULTIMORE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was lame in the left front leg and accordingly was not suitable to race.

Acting on this advice, MULTIMORE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, MULTIMORE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

STRIVE FOR GLORY was slow to begin and then was bumped by SAVVY DELIGHT which shifted out.

VAMOS began only fairly and then was crowded for room between GORGEOUS VITALITY which initially shifted out and bumped VAMOS and CIRCUIT SEVEN which shifted in.

TRAVEL DATUK was crowded for room on jumping between TSUEN WAN GLORY and PRETTY QUEEN PRAWN which shifted out.

After travelling a short distance, SUPER CLASS shifted in abruptly towards the heels of CIRCUIT SEVEN, resulting in SUPER CLASS becoming badly unbalanced.

Approaching the 600 Metres, GORGEOUS VITALITY and PRETTY QUEEN PRAWN brushed.

PRETTY QUEEN PRAWN was then left racing wide and without cover.

Approaching the 250 Metres, SAVVY DELIGHT shifted in away from GORGEOUS VITALITY, resulting in the horse becoming unbalanced when having to be steadied away from the heels of OVERSUBSCRIBED.

Approaching the 150 Metres, SUPER CLASS and OVERSUBSCRIBED were crowded for room inside CIRCUIT SEVEN (M F Poon) which shifted in.

M F Poon was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Approaching the 100 Metres, STRIVE FOR GLORY was shifted in away from the heels of CIRCUIT SEVEN when having difficulty obtaining clear running.

Passing the 100 Metres, the whip of M Chadwick (SUPER AXIOM) was knocked from his grasp by the whip of A Hamelin (VAMOS).

When questioned, C Y Ho (GORGEOUS VITALITY) stated that at the entrance to the Straight he felt that SUPER AXIOM was shifting out and as a clear run existed to the inside of that horse, he directed his mount to the inside of SUPER AXIOM to improve between that horse and CIRCUIT SEVEN.

He said as he did this he received a call from J Moreira (SAVVY DELIGHT) to his inside which indicated to him that he may be interfering with that horse.

He said as SUPER AXIOM was still sufficiently clear of GORGEOUS VITALITY for him to shift to its outside, he elected to direct GORGEOUS VITALITY to the outside of SUPER AXIOM rather than continue to shift in and cause interference to SAVVY DELIGHT.

C Y Ho was told that his explanation would be reported.

After the race, M F Poon stated that, in his opinion, CIRCUIT SEVEN was not suited by tonight's track surface.

A veterinary inspection of CIRCUIT SEVEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of SUPER CLASS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

PRETTY QUEEN PRAWN, SAVVY DELIGHT and OVERSUBSCRIBED were sent for sampling.
