Recap by phillip woo

Casa Kingdom ran on nicely near the inside to win going away 20m out after saving ground behind midfield from gate three. It was certainly his best run to date following a move to cheek pieces after a heart irregularity in January. Day Day Rich found one just too good after straightening two lengths on top after quickly finding the front from gate five. It was a fine effort following a bleeding attack in November. Vector finished nicely near the inside to place after settling second last from a tricky gate. It was clearly his best run from 16 starts. Dassit closed off reasonably well along the inside to fill a spot in the top four after a patient ride at the rear of the field. He should be able to find his mark shortly in this class. Red Brick Glory ran on steadily after a one-off trip behind midfield. It was one of his better efforts from 11 starts. Moon Peaks ran on without menacing near the outside after biding his time three from the rear. He's in the right grade but is more effective over the 1,200m at Sha Tin. Master Albert disappointed when asked for more after a prominent run on the fence. He couldn't cope with the big weight. Sunny And Gold would have slept well after getting posted wide in midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (616) - YUEN YUEN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

SEA ELITE was withdrawn on 26.4.22 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter DASSIT (J Moreira).

Before being allowed to race again, SEA ELITE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

RED BRICK GLORY began only fairly and then was bumped on jumping by CASA KINGDOM which shifted out.

MASTER ALBERT shifted out at the start and bumped MUDITA.

ALLOY KING was crowded for room on jumping between DASSIT and ZACIAN which began awkwardly and shifted in.

After this, DASSIT was steadied to obtain cover.

ZACIAN was then ridden along, however, making the turn near the 1150 Metres was steadied to obtain cover when racing very wide.

MOON PEAKS and VECTOR bumped shortly after the start.

Passing the 1100 Metres, FORTUNE HERO shifted out and brushed MOON PEAKS which in turn shifted out and hampered VECTOR which was being steadied to obtain cover.

DASSIT made the turn at the 600 Metres awkwardly and bumped the hindquarters of VECTOR which became unbalanced.

Passing the 400 Metres, VECTOR was awkwardly placed behind RED BRICK GLORY.

Rounding the Home Turn, SUNNY AND GOLD raced tight outside RED BRICK GLORY which shifted out.

Passing the 200 Metres, FORTUNE HERO lay out under pressure.

ALLOY KING travelled very wide and without cover throughout.

When questioned, M Chadwick (SUNNY AND GOLD) stated that the pace of the race in the early and middle stages was quick and therefore when ALLOY KING was ridden forward of SUNNY AND GOLD after the 800 Metres when racing very wide, he elected to take a trailing position behind that horse as he would have had to make use of SUNNY AND GOLD to maintain its position to the inside of that horse.

He said after being crossed by ALLOY KING, that horse commenced to give ground near the 550 Metres which resulted in SUNNY AND GOLD being very awkwardly placed behind ALLOY KING.

He said passing the 500 Metres he intended to shift to the outside of ALLOY KING rather than be taken back in the field, however, as he was doing this, ALLOY KING commenced to lay out and he believed that if he continued to improve to the outside of that horse, this would result in SUNNY AND GOLD being hampered when taken unnecessarily wider.

He added that as ALLOY KING continued to lay out, he elected to shift to the inside of that horse near the 450 Metres to commence improving his position.

A veterinary inspection of SUNNY AND GOLD immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

A veterinary inspection of ALLOY KING and MUDITA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of ZACIAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

As ZACIAN was treated following the race at the request of Trainer C S Shum, the horse will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.

CASA KINGDOM and DAY DAY RICH were sent for sampling.
