Post-time favourite This Is Charisma got the gaps when required to just defeat Smart Cousin after making his run one-off behind midfield for a first win at his 25th start. He had been knocking on the door in two July efforts. Smart Cousin put his head in front close to home after a one-off trip in midfield but was nipped on the wire. He's not easy to get right but did place two back over 1,800m. Early favourite Star Of Glory peaked on his run 50m out after hitting the front 150m out travelling prominent along the fence. It was another pleasing effort after hitting form late last season. Punted late Turf Brilliant ran on late near the outside to fill the frame after a wide trip behind midfield from an outside draw. It was a good effort after a win two back over 2,000m. Circuit Spiritanto gradually faded after a one-out, one-back run. He's not far off a bottom. Winning Steed just plodded in the run to wire after prompting the pace of leader Mister Monte. He was in need of the run following a lengthy break. Mister Monte weakened in the run to the wire after working hard to lead from a wide draw. He's never easy to get right.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (1) - MOUNT PARKER HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1600Meters

FORTUNE PATROL and THIS IS CHARISMA began awkwardly.

WINNING STEED shifted in on jumping, resulting in CIRCUIT SPIRITANTO being taken in and brushing STAR OF GLORY.

Shortly after the start, RUN DES RUN was crowded for room between TURF BRILLIANT and MISTER MONTE.

After this, RUN DES RUN and TURF BRILLIANT were steadied to obtain cover from a wide barrier.

From a wide barrier, SUPERB DADDY was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

After the 900 Metres, TURF BRILLIANT was left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the 800 Metres, FORTUNE PATROL was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SKY GEM which momentarily raced tight inside THIS IS CHARISMA.

Near the 650 Metres, SMART COUSIN was inconvenienced by STAR OF GLORY (Apprentice Y L Chung) which shifted out.

Apprentice Chung was advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

TURF BRILLIANT, which was racing outside SMART COUSIN, was inconvenienced in consequence.

RUN DES RUN made the Home Turn awkwardly.

THIS IS CHARISMA was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and when improving between STAR OF GLORY and SMART COUSIN approaching the 250 Metres was awkwardly placed close to the heels of STAR OF GLORY due to STAR OF GLORY and SMART COUSIN shifting a minimal amount of ground.

Approaching the 50 Metres, Apprentice Y L Chung briefly dropped his left rein.

After the race, K Teetan reported that REGENCY MASTER never travelled comfortably at any stage of the race and was a beaten horse a long way from the finish.

A veterinary inspection of REGENCY MASTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

THIS IS CHARISMA and SMART COUSIN were sent for sampling.
