Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (198) - CHEVALIER CAR DEALERSHIP HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
SMART FUTURE, which was leaning on the outside of its gate as the start was effected, began only fairly and then shifted out towards the heels of ALL IS GOOD.
SOLAR PARTNER shifted out at the start and bumped THUNDERSTRIKE which in turn shifted out and bumped HELENE WISDOM STAR, resulting in all three horses becoming unbalanced.
After this, HELENE WISDOM STAR was shifted across behind runners.
A short distance after the start, NICE BIRDIE and JOYFUL GENIUS raced in restricted room between HAPPY FAT CAT and ALL IS GOOD which shifted out.
Despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, SON PAK FU was slow to muster speed and for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover.
SON PAK FU then lay in under pressure in the Straight.
Near the 900 Metres, JOYFUL GENIUS was awkwardly placed inside the heels of NICE BIRDIE.
JOYFUL GENIUS was then shifted to the outside of NICE BIRDIE approaching the 800 Metres.
Throughout the race, SOLAR PARTNER travelled wide and without cover.
The performance of SMART FUTURE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, SMART FUTURE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, L Hewitson reported that THUNDERSTRIKE appeared to resent the kickback today as the horse did not travel well throughout the middle stages and then did not finish the race off.
A veterinary inspection of THUNDERSTRIKE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, M F Poon stated that, in his opinion, JOYFUL GENIUS did not appreciate the kickback today.
He added that it was only after being shifted to the outside of runners in the early part of the Straight that JOYFUL GENIUS finished the race off.
A veterinary inspection of SOLAR PARTNER, HAR HAR AT HEART and SMART FUTURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
YOUTHFUL DEAL and HAPPY FAT CAT were sent for sampling.

Favourite Youthful Deal got up in deep stretch to deny late-fancied Happy Fat Cat after a handy run one off the fence for a first win at his fifth start. He had put the writing on the wall with a switch to the dirt last month and can win again. Happy Fat Cat found one just too good after rolling to the lead 500m out prompting the pace along the inside. It was another fine effort following a win last start in Class Five. Punted late Helene Wisdom Star made up a tonne of ground late down the outside to snatch third after showing no speed from a wide draw. He relished a downgrade with a return to sprinting on the dirt. All Is Good came up one-paced after a prominent run on the fence. He's honest but has trouble winning. Nice Birdie was doing some nice work late after making his run three from the rear. It was a pleasing debut performance after failing to impress on his trials. Magic Supreme weakened 100m out after leading for a good part one off the fence from a tricky gate. He had an excuse. Joyful Genius ran on without menacing after a patient ride two from the rear. He's better on the turf.
