Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Fortune Master closed with every stride to just edge Give Way Please in the shadows of the post from midfield for a second career win at his 24th start. He had been knocking on the door in five other starts for his new trainer this term. Late-fancied Give Way Please put up a terrific fight after shooting to the front 350m out following a pace-stalking run outside Smart Folks from gate 14. He proved a second last start was not a fluke. Fortune Marbo ran on nicely with two wider out to fill a placing after making his run five back and one off the fence from a tricky gate. Smart Cousin ran on reasonably well late through the middle to fill the frame from behind midfield on the fence. It was another honest effort. Viva A La ran on steadily after making his run just beyond midfield to pick up a first pay slip trying 1,400m for the first time. Punted late Apex Top just held his ground after a prominent run on the fence. The stable change failed to make a difference. Ernest Feeling ran on without menacing from towards the rear. He got too far back in the run carrying more weight following a last-start win.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (426) - TVB CHARITY FUND HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Meters

On leaving the Parade Ring, SUPER KINGDOM made contact with a rail.

SUPER KINGDOM was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race.

SMART COUSIN jumped only fairly.

ERNEST FEELING jumped awkwardly, made contact with the right side of its barrier and became unbalanced.

TRAVEL GLORY jumped awkwardly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

FORTUNE MARBO jumped awkwardly and throughout the early stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 1000 Metres was steadied away from the heels of VIVA A LA.

From a wide barrier, MIGHTY STAR was attempted to be shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

MIGHTY STAR was left racing wide and without cover after the 900 Metres and approaching the first turn at the 800 Metres dipped.

Passing the 1000 Metres, a small light weight non-slip piece of saddle packing was dislodged from under the saddle of GIVE WAY PLEASE (K Teetan).

After the race, K Teetan explained that on jumping he felt his saddle slipped forward slightly and this may have contributed to the packing being dislodged.

He added that he had used this packing without incident on a regular basis.

On presenting to be weighed-in subsequent to the race, Jockey Teetan drew his correct weight.

Near the 125 Metres, TRAVEL GLORY was steadied when disappointed for running between ERNEST FEELING and SMART FOLKS which was giving ground.

The performance of SEATOSKY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, SEATOSKY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of SEATOSKY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, A Badel reported that ERNEST FEELING settled in a rearward position but with the pace of the event being run on standard found it difficult to make up ground when placed under pressure in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of ERNEST FEELING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, S De Sousa advised that SMART FOLKS travelled comfortably in a forward position, but did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of SMART FOLKS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Following the race, DAILY BEAUTY was noted to have sustained an abrasion to the right front heel bulb.

FORTUNE MASTER and GIVE WAY PLEASE were sent for sampling.
