Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Pakistan Friend was too good after hitting the front 200m out following a speed chasing run one off in third for a third career win over this Sha Tin trip at his second start in Class Five. Red Elysees stayed on well to overhaul long-time leader Ring Bells in the final stages for second after getting caught wide forward of midfield from gate 14. He should win shortly if he remains in Class Five. Backed late in betting, Ring Bells kept on gamely after clearing to the front from gate five. He was able to build on a pace stalking fifth last start over 1,600m despite a rise in trip. Baron Zee held on for fourth after a pace stalking run. He held on for another minor cheques but is quite limited. Superb Daddy ran on late to finish next best after making his run behind midfield on the fence. It was a better effort after performing below par in his past two starts. Lucky Missile stayed on all right without menacing from midfield. He's more effective at the Valley. Favourite Over The Moon ran on without threatening from towards the rear. He needed a stronger pace.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (654) - GUIA HILL HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Meters

After being loaded into the barriers, CABLE SPEED (C L Cheung) became fractious and kicked out behind.

CABLE SPEED was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

Before being allowed to race again, CABLE SPEED will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

After the race, C L Cheung advised that that it was his intention to settle in a more forward position, however, CABLE SPEED jumped awkwardly, lost ground, settled back in the field and raced in a disappointing manner.

A veterinary inspection of CABLE SPEED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUPERB DADDY jumped only fairly.

MURRAY'S PARTNERS was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, STARSHIP EIGHTY shifted in and brushed BARON ZEE.

When the pace eased near the 1000 Metres, STARSHIP EIGHTY commenced to race keenly and was shifted out and away from SMILING FACE.

From a wide barrier, RED IMPACT was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

LUCKY MISSILE raced keenly in the middle stages.

Near the 350 Metres, FLYING GALLOP raced in restricted room between LUCKY MISSILE and SUPERB DADDY which shifted out slightly.

Near the 250 Metres, SUPERB DADDY was shifted to the outside of PAKISTAN FRIEND to improve and was inclined to lay out, resulting in its rider, M Chadwick, having to stop riding, straighten his mount and change his whip to his left hand.

PAKISTAN FRIEND lay in over the final 200 Metres when being ridden out to the finish.

RED ELYSEES raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

FLYING GALLOP lost its right front plate after the race.

After the race, H Bowman (OVER THE MOON) reported that his intention was to settle in a midfield position, but after being slow to begin, he rode his mount along in an endeavour to hold a more forward position, however, OVER THE MOON failed to show sufficient pace to do so and settled further back than intended.

He added that when placed under pressure in the Straight OVER THE MOON failed to quicken.

A veterinary inspection of OVER THE MOON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

OVER THE MOON, PAKISTAN FRIEND and RED ELYSEES were sent for sampling.
