Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (784) - UNCOMPROMISING INTEGRITY 1000M HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters
MASTER AGILITY was withdrawn on 30.6.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter YOO YOO KNIGHT (K C Leung).
Before being allowed to race again, MASTER AGILITY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
As the start was effected, UNIVERSAL PURSUIT became fractious, sat back on its barrier and as a consequence lost a considerable amount of ground.
Before being allowed to race again, UNIVERSAL PURSUIT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
YOO YOO KNIGHT jumped awkwardly, made contact with the right side of its barrier and lost ground.
CHILL WAY jumped only fairly.
Approaching the 700 Metres, FLYING DRAGON was steadied when crowded for room between HEALTHY HEALTHY and SUPER FAST DRAGON which lay in despite the efforts of its rider, L Currie.
After the 300 Metres, TALENTS SUPREMO shifted to the inside of SPARKLING KNIGHT in an attempt to secure clear running and as a result made contact with SUPER FAST DRAGON.
When questioned regarding his riding of MIDAS TOUCH, H Bowman stated that from the inside barrier he elected to shift MIDAS TOUCH to the outside in the early stages to obtain cover and to provide it with the opportunity to travel well.
He said in the middle stages when positioned behind CHILL WAY, he elected to shift to that runner's outside where he identified FLYING DRAGON racing on the outside rail and as it was a favoured runner, he elected to endeavour to follow that horse.
He added after being positioned behind FLYING DRAGON near the 450 Metres, when that runner shifted in, he then was obliged to shift in further to secure clear running at the 400 Metres.
He further stated that near the 300 Metres he then directed MIDAS TOUCH into a tight run to the inside of HAPPY HORSE whereby he then secured clear running near the 250 Metres.
After considering his explanation, the Stewards found the tactics were reasonable in the circumstances.
A veterinary inspection of AWESOME TREASURE and UNIVERSAL PURSUIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SPARKLING KNIGHT and FLYING DRAGON were sent for sampling.

Well-backed late, Sparkling Knight led and kept up a strong gallop for a cosy win. He has done well to score two successes from his past four starts over the straight 1,000m. Post-time favourite Flying Dragon peeled off heels inside the 200m and ran on nicely to grab second 50m. He returned to form following his downgrade. Early favourite Midas Touch ran on nicely to fill a placing after travelling one from the rear. He is still on a learning curve but should be winning in no time after placing in his past two of three starts. Super Fast Dragon stayed on all right after his handy run. He has performed OK in two of his four races. Healthy Healthy ran on steadily from midfield without menacing the placegetters. Talents Supremo was one-paced after getting every chance on the stand side. He needs to drop further in the ratings. Awesome Treasure made some ground on the far without threatening the placegetters. The straight-track experiment backfired after he had been in the mix in six of seven prior starts over 1,200m. Universal Pursuit made up heaps of ground late from a detached spot after rearing at the beginning.
