Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Ka Ying Victory led and kept up a strong gallop under his own steam to remain perfect in two starts despite a step up to 1,200m. It was a very professional display. The two-year-old has a bright future ahead of him. Well-backed Ruby Sailing ran on nicely along the inside to snatch second after recovering from a tardy start to travel midfield on the fence. He was able to back up a smart debut over the minimum trip. Super Bonus kept up a decent gallop to just miss second after a speed-tracking run from gate six. It was a good run and a good use of an apprentice claim. Joyful Prosperity came from towards the rear to finish next best without threatening the top three. He has been consistent without winning. Holy Lake stayed on reasonably well after a widewith- cover trip in midfield from the widest gate. He has had a pleasing Griffin campaign. Management Heart made ground late down the outside despite getting hampered rounding the final bend after making his run at the rear from an outside gate.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (807) - THE PURVES QUAICH (PLATE) - Class GRIFFIN - 1200Meters

RUBY SAILING jumped only fairly and then was crowded between CHANCHENG GLORY and E GLORY which was taken in by KA YING VICTORY.

MANAGEMENT HEART was crowded at the start between HOLY LAKE and JOYFUL PROSPERITY, both of which shifted ground.

In this incident, JOYFUL PROSPERITY was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.

MANAGEMENT HEART and JOYFUL PROSPERITY were then shifted across behind runners from wide barriers in the early stages.

SONIC BOOM and GALLANT VALOUR bumped shortly after the start.

SONIC BOOM then raced keenly in the early stages when being steadied to obtain cover.

In the early stages, when being shifted across behind runners, GALLANT VALOUR became awkwardly placed close to the heels of TELECOM DRAGON when that runner shifted out after being bumped by SUPER BONUS which shifted out.

Near the 1000 Metres, CHANCHENG GLORY shifted out and briefly crowded the running of E GLORY.

Passing the 900 Metres, TELECOM DRAGON (C L Chau) shifted in and then blundered when it struck the heels of SUPER BONUS.

C L Chau was advised to exercise care.

In this incident, E GLORY was briefly crowded between TELECOM DRAGON and CHANCHENG GLORY.

TELECOM DRAGON was then obliged to race wide and without cover for the remainder of the event.

JOYFUL PROSPERITY was held up making the Home Turn and near the 150 Metres was shifted to the inside of E GLORY to continue into clear running.

On straightening, MANAGEMENT HEART ran wide when awkwardly placed close to GALLANT VALOUR which shifted out when bumped by SONIC BOOM.

After the race, L Hewitson (CHANCHENG GLORY) reported that his mount did not appreciate racing in amongst other horses today.

He said, in his opinion, CHANCHENG GLORY may be suited by the addition of blinkers and also may appreciate a step-up in distance.

A veterinary inspection of CHANCHENG GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

KA YING VICTORY and RUBY SAILING were sent for sampling.
