Recap by phillip woo

In a terrific finish, late-fancied Joy Coming scraped home after travelling in the box seat and hitting the front 30m out. It was the lightly raced four-year-old sprinter's second win in a row. He could win again. Exuberant came with a barnstorming finish down the outside to just miss after a patient ride second last from the outside gate. He was both well handicapped and well backed, and he lived up to his good trial. Favourite Travel Golf found a couple too good after his prominent run. He is racing well and could break through soon. Shinkansen came from last to narrowly miss the placings. Douglas Whyte changed his gear, and he responded with the best of his five runs. Sight Hero took a while to get going before charging late to finish a close fifth. It was not a bad performance carrying the top weight. Lucky Gor grudgingly gave way after clearing to the front 800m out. He is capable on his day, but he is not easy to get right. High Percentage came from midfield to finish the next best, but he was only beaten little more than one length. Happy Soul ran on from the rear without threatening the placegetters.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (14) - TAI O HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Whilst in the holding stables, HAPPY SOUL was found to have sustained an abrasion to the left hind cannon.

HAPPY SOUL was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

HIGH PERCENTAGE jumped only fairly and then was crowded for room between LUCKY GOR and SIGHT HERO, both of which shifted ground.

SHINKANSEN and HAPPY SOUL bumped at the start and then were shifted across behind runners in the early stages from wide barriers.

SPICY SO SMART (Apprentice Y L Chung) jumped awkwardly.

Apprentice Chung reported that shortly after the start his mount attempted to buck and as a consequence lost some ground.

A veterinary inspection of SPICY SO SMART immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, SPICY SO SMART will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial utilising raceday gear.

Near the 550 Metres, WIND SPEEDER and HIGH PERCENTAGE bumped.

Near the 400 Metres, HIGH PERCENTAGE commenced to shift to the outside of TRAVEL GOLF.

A short distance later, TRAVEL GOLF then shifted out, resulting in HIGH PERCENTAGE shifting out further and hampering WIND SPEEDER (K Teetan) which was taken wider.

After the race, K Teetan reported that after this incident his mount failed to respond to his riding.

After the 300 Metres, SIGHT HERO lay in and proved reluctant to shift to the outside of HIGH PERCENTAGE for some distance thereafter.

Then over the concluding stages, HIGH PERCENTAGE and SIGHT HERO raced tight between TRAVEL GOLF and EXUBERANT which lay in.

After the race, L Ferraris (LUCKY GOR) reported that his mount raced keenly in the lead and as a consequence did not finish the race off strongly.

A veterinary inspection of LUCKY GOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of HAPPY SOUL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

TRAVEL GOLF, JOY COMING and EXUBERANT were sent for sampling.
