Odds-on favourite Splendid Star easily prevailed after shooting to the lead 300m out following a pace-stalking run for a second win and two seconds from his past four starts. He's in a terrific patch of form and can win again. Joyful Champion stayed on nicely for second after a box seat run. He appreciated the rise in trip after waking up with a better effort last month over 1,400m. Turtle Again ran on well down the middle of the track to fill a placing after a rails run from midfield. Like the latter, he was suited by the rise in distance after producing a career best run last start. Starship Eighty kept on one paced after a one-out, one-back run. He's given a decent sight in each of his three starts this term. Leather Master got going late near the inside from last at the head of the straight to finish next best. He's shown progress in two runs in Class Five this term. Punted late Loyal Ambition came up flat after a one-off trip from midfield. He's more effective at the Valley. Ring Bells weakened after dictating the run. It was a typical performance.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (56) - SHENYANG HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Meters

OWNERS' STAR was slow to begin.

From a wide barrier, LEATHER MASTER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

SUPERB DADDY (K Teetan) was unable to improve its position from the 600 Metres when held up before being shifted to the outside of MIGHTY STAR near the 500 Metres to obtain clear running.

After the race, K Teetan explained that his mount was not suited by the slow early pace of today's race.

A veterinary inspection of SUPERB DADDY immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in its trachea and also found the horse to be a "roarer??which had previously been reported.

MIGHTY STAR raced wide and without cover throughout the race.

After the race, H Bowman (LOYAL AMBITION) explained that he was instructed to ride his mount where comfortable, however, was not suited by the slow early pace of the race.

Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions issued.

A veterinary inspection of LOYAL AMBITION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SPLENDID STAR and JOYFUL CHAMPION were sent for sampling.
