Recap by phillip woo

Suited by the pace, well-backed Happy Hero swooped to go from last to first in the home straight, hitting the lead 50m from the line and winning geared down. New handler Mark Newnham executed a good training feat to get the 10-start unplaced maiden right. Favourite Happy Jai Jai stayed on to be second best after his midfield run one off the fence. He is always a chance over Happy Valley's 1,650m in this grade. Fortune Triple dashed well from near the back to take third. It was a good first-up run over an inadequate trip. Punted late, Medic Elite hit the lead 200m out following his box-seat run but knocked up late. He performed OK carrying more weight after his last-start win. Smart Beauty ran on steadily from worse than midfield to finish the next best. He has run well in the latest two of his three races this season. Perfect Rock was one-paced after his handy run next to the rail. He ran slightly better than his first-up sixth last month. Copartner Era ran on from near the rear without threatening the placegetters. He is not easy to get right. Eagle Run weakened after chasing the hot speed that Star Of Glory set.
