Recap by phillip woo

Happy Fat Cat led and did not fold when Wood On Fire eyeballed him 100m from the line. He registered the fourth win of his career on his second start for rookie trainer Cody Mo Wai-kit. If he remains in the grade, he should remain competitive. Wood On Fire came to win the race following his speed-tracking run but found one too good. He is a winner waiting to happen after two good runs this season. Firming favourite Golden Luck plugged on to take third without threatening the top two after his one-out, one-back run. Super Elite ran on steadily to fill the frame after his handy run on the fence. The addition of a crossed nose band improved his performance level. Wind Speeder settled at the rear from gate 12 and ran on late near the inside to finish the next best. He is usually pretty honest over Happy Valley's 1,200m. Shinkansen got going late without threatening the placegetters. He has shown progress in his two runs this term. Oversubscribed ran on steadily from midfield. He rarely produces a bad run. Kokushi Musou will sleep well after getting posted wide without cover in midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (77) - PO LAM HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 CHATEAU (H214) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 2 KOKUSHI MUSOU (G006) H Bowman After the race, H Bowman stated that after taking up a forward position he was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

He added that when placed under pressure in the Home Straight, KOKUSHI MUSOU failed to respond to his riding and although obliged to race wide was still in his opinion somewhat disappointing.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 FLYING ON THE TURF (C477) K C Leung Approaching the 1000 Metres was steadied when crowded by OVERSUBSCRIBED which was taken in by KOKUSHI MUSOU (H Bowman).

H Bowman was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 4 HAPPY FAT CAT (G166) Y L Chung Was sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 GOLDEN LUCK (H159) Z Purton Was sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 WOOD ON FIRE (C460) K Teetan Prior to the declaration of correct weight, K Teetan and Trainer C W Chang viewed the films to ascertain if there were grounds for a protest/objection against HAPPY FAT CAT being declared the winner when that runner shifted out over the concluding stages.

When connections declined to lodge a protest/objection, the Stewards were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds to do so, weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

Was sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 URBAN TRIUMPH (H200) H Bentley Was slow to begin.

Near the 800 Metres was bumped by GOOD VIEW GLORY and became unbalanced.

Horse No 10 WIND SPEEDER (E281) L Hewitson From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

For a short distance near the 400 Metres was held up for clear running.

Horse No 11 SHINKANSEN (H277) K De Melo Reared in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race.

Jumped very awkwardly, shifted in and made heavy contact with GOOD VIEW GLORY.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 GOOD VIEW GLORY (H154) A Hamelin Was bumped heavily at the start.

Near the 800 Metres became badly unbalanced when crowded between URBAN TRIUMPH and OVERSUBSCRIBED which, after shifting in, then raced tight to the inside of KOKUSHI MUSOU (H Bowman) which also shifted in.

H Bowman was severely reprimanded and advised he must ensure he leaves sufficient racing room for runners positioned to his inside.

Near the 75 Metres was awkwardly placed on the heels of KOKUSHI MUSOU when that runner commenced to give ground and was then shifted to the inside to continue into clear running.
