Recap by phillip woo

Old-timer Right Honourable collared Regency Happy Star with his perfectly timed run from third last to record his eighth win on his 72nd start. He was not far off the mark on his first two appearances for his new trainer, Mark Newnham, but he should find it harder in Class Four next time. Regency Happy Star nearly stole the race after circling the field to lead 750m out. It was the best of his eight starts. Second favourite Happy Jai Jai stayed on to be the third best after enjoying the gun run. It was another honest effort. Brother Pearl ran on well with two wider out to fill the frame after making his run from near the rear. It was much improved effort on his third Class Five outing this season. Nice Birdie made some ground near the inside to finish the next best. He went a shade better in his second Class Five race on his return to Happy Valley. Double Show was one-paced after slotting in midfield one off the fence with cover. Under Brenton Avdulla, he failed to build on his placings in back-to-back events in tandem with Harry Bentley. Firming favourite Medic Elite was disappointing after his prominent run on the rail.
