Recap by phillip woo

After a well-executed ride to find a spot one off travelling behind midfield from gate 12, Red Majesty responded nicely to win going away 50m out for a ninth career win over the Valley 1,650m. He was able to back up a last-start second. Punted late, Kasa Papa found one too good after circling the field from near last to lead approaching the 200m. He's honest but has trouble winning. Northern Beast finished well to fill a placing after making his run five back on the fence. It was an improved effort with a step up in distance at his second start over the course. Concerto stayed on evenly for fourth after a prominent run. He rarely produces a bad run over this course and distance. All Riches was on his tippy toes 100m out after dictating most of the running from gate four. He's more effective over the 1,400m. Favourite Gallant Valour only plodded after a one-off trip from midfield. He couldn't back up a rallying third last time out. Old-timer Invincible Missile ran on without threatening from towards the rear. He's struggling to recapture top form. Dublin Star only held his ground after a rails run from midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six : (518) - PERCIVAL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 LOYAL BABY (E130) Y L Chung After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that when he was concerned that there may have been something amiss with his mount when it gave ground in the Home Straight, he eased it down from the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of LOYAL BABY was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, LOYAL BABY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 2 RED MAJESTY (E028) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 GALLANT VALOUR (H323) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 SUPER BABY (G364) E C W Wong In the early stages was caught wide and was then ridden forward to obtain a position outside the lead near the 900 Metres.

The performance of SUPER BABY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, SUPER BABY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 INVINCIBLE MISSILE (C037) B Avdulla Slow to begin and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 350 Metres was steadied away from DUBLIN STAR.

Horse No 7 KASA PAPA (G312) C L Chau Jumped only fairly.

When questioned regarding his riding and the reason he made a forward move near the 900 Metres, C L Chau stated that he settled back in the field with the pace of the event being run inside of standard time in the early stages.

He said on entering the Back Straight he was of the view that the leading division had established a break on the remainder of the field and when he felt the pace after the 900 Metres had eased slightly, he elected to allow KASA PAPA to stride forward with a view to crossing GALLANT VALOUR.

He added as he improved to the outside of GALLANT VALOUR, that runner held its position to his inside which resulted in KASA PAPA having to continue forward where it crossed SUPER BABY after the 500 Metres.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 DUBLIN STAR (C436) M Chadwick Approaching the 1500 Metres was steadied when crowded by GALLANT VALOUR which was taken in by ALL RICHES (K C Leung).

K C Leung was advised to exercise more care.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 LEGION OF MERIT (D419) H Bentley After the race, H Bentley reported that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount conservatively in the early stages.

Trainer W Y So confirmed the instructions issued and stated that as LEGION OF MERIT had performed disappointingly in its last two starts, he had instructed Jockey Bentley to ride the horse more conservatively to attempt to have it finish the race off.

Horse No 12 NORTHERN BEAST (H233) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.

Leaving the 1000 Metres got its head up when being steadied whilst racing tight to the inside of RED MAJESTY.

Near the 600 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded between DUBLIN STAR and SUNNY SHINES.

Near the 300 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of SUPER BABY to find clear running when SUPER BABY commenced to give ground.
