Recap by phillip woo

Specked late Urban Triumph ran over the top of them 30m out after peeling into the open 200m out following a rails run from behind midfield for an upset win at his 10th start. Gangnam Star ran on nicely near the inside to finish a close second from midfield. He is a winner waiting to happen if he remains in the grade. Mr Good Vibes was touched off late after moving to the lead 180m out following a speed-tracking run. It was a better performance at his second run in the grade following a rise in trip. Favourite Good View Glory just missed a placing after a handy run one off the fence. He is heading in the right direction after a long-priced third last start. Perfect Peach ran on nicely for fifth with two wider out after making his run one from the rear. He has hit the line much better in his past two starts after a gear change. Rattan World got going late to finish next best travelling third last after a tardy start. The Good Deal was badly held up travelling box seat.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (579) - DENGSHIKOU HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 GANGNAM STAR (H326) M Chadwick Near the 250 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between MR GOOD VIBES and GOOD VIEW GLORY and as a result made contact with the hindquarters of GOOD VIEW GLORY.

Was then held up for clear running behind MR GOOD VIBES before obtaining a tight run to the inside of that runner near the 150 Metres.

Noted to have sustained a small laceration to the left front pastern after the race.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 JAZZ CLUB (G285) Y L Chung Was left racing wide and without cover from the 900 Metres.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 RATTAN WORLD (G384) B Avdulla Slow to begin.

Horse No 4 BEAT HOLLOW (G414) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.

After the race, H Bowman reported that his mount was noted to have its tongue over the bit following the race and he recommended to the connections to apply a tongue tie to the horse for its next race start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 THE GOOD DEAL (G025) A Atzeni In the early stages raced keenly when being crossed by BEAT HOLLOW.

Near the 350 Metres was disappointed for clear running to the inside of BEAT HOLLOW and then did not obtain clear running until near the 200 Metres.

Again approaching the 150 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between BEAT HOLLOW and GANGNAM STAR.

Horse No 7 URBAN TRIUMPH (H200) K C Leung Jumped awkwardly.

When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer W K Mo stated that after the horse's last start he removed the hood for today's race and gave the horse light work during the week to freshen it up as it was backing up within 7 days from its last start.

He said as a result URBAN TRIUMPH was able to settle in a slightly more forward position where it travelled well which he attributed to the race being run outside of standard time throughout the early and middle stages.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 DAILY TROPHY (H283) C Y Ho From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 11 GOOD VIEW GLORY (H154) Z Purton Bumped on the hindquarters near the 250 Metres and became unbalanced.

Bumped by MR GOOD VIBES near the 25 Metres.

Prior to declaring weighed-in, the Stewards viewed the patrol films to ascertain if there were grounds for a protest/objection on behalf of the connections of GOOD VIEW GLORY, placed 4th, against MR GOOD VIBES being declared the 3rd placegetter.

When Jockey Purton did not lodge a protest/objection and the Stewards were satisfied there were not sufficient grounds to do so having regard to the margin of 1/2 length between both horses at the finish, weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

Subsequently the Stewards interviewed Jockey Purton in respect of his decision not to lodge a protest/objection.

He stated that as he felt GOOD VIEW GLORY had sufficient time to improve past MR GOOD VIBES in the Home Straight and the contact occurred close to the finishing line, he was of the opinion there were not sufficient grounds to do so.

When questioned, Z Purton stated that his instructions were not to hold a forward position, but from an inside barrier GOOD VIEW GLORY commenced well today and as a result he took advantage of the good start to hold a more forward position.

Sent for sampling post-race.
