Recap by phillip woo

After flying out of the gates to easily lead, Sweet Diamond kept up a strong gallop for a second win at his 22nd start. He had been knocking on the door from awkward draws in four of his past six starts. Beau Gosse stayed on very well for second after a prominent run wide without cover the entire trip. He's a winner waiting to happen. Mr Good Vibes stayed on well for third after a perfect trip in the box seat. He was able to back up a last-start third at Sha Tin. Easy Two kept on nicely after making his run five back and one off the fence. He has shown improvement in both runs over the Valley 1,200m. Viva A La kept on evenly for fifth after easing out of a speed battle to sit handy one off the fence with cover. Noble One ran on late to finish next best after biding his time two from the rear. He went OK carrying top weight. Stormtrouper just held his ground after travelling midfield on the fence. He seems to be better suited over a mile nowadays. Tactical Command copped a bump 250m out and was then short of room over the last 150m after working forward wide to track the leader.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (610) - YEONGCHEON HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 NOBLE ONE (G278) C Y Ho Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 2 TACTICAL COMMAND (H197) Z Purton After the 300 Metres shifted to the outside of SWEET DIAMOND in an attempt to secure clear running and made contact with BEAU GOSSE.

After the race, Z Purton reported that when his mount commenced well tonight, he elected to make use of the good start to ride forward and take up a position outside the lead.

He said however, in his opinion, given the manner in which his mount finished the race off, it would be better suited by being ridden in a more conservative manner in the early stages.

Trainer M Newnham stated that he expected TACTICAL COMMAND to take up a midfield position but agreed with the assessment of Jockey Purton that once the horse jumped well, he took advantage of its good start.

He also concurred with the views of Jockey Purton that TACTICAL COMMAND is better suited when being ridden in a more conservative manner in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 BEAU GOSSE (G389) H Bowman Jumped awkwardly and then was bumped shortly after the start.

Approaching the turn near the 1000 Metres commenced to race keenly and shifted out when being steadied away from STORMTROUPER.

Raced wide and without cover from the 750 Metres.

Bumped after the 300 Metres.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 MR GOOD VIBES (H180) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly.

Lay out in the Home Straight and approaching the 150 Metres shifted out, resulting in its rider K Teetan having to stop riding and straighten.

Horse No 5 PODIUM (H173) A Badel Shortly after the start was bumped by MILLENNIUM FALCON.

From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 6 STORMTROUPER (E100) A Hamelin Approaching the 250 Metres was shifted to the outside of TACTICAL COMMAND to secure clear running.

Over the concluding stages raced tight to the inside of VIVA A LA.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, STORMTROUPER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 7 SWEET DIAMOND (G063) H Bentley Near the 200 Metres H Bentley dropped his whip.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 WIND SPEEDER (E281) M Chadwick From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 9 VIVA A LA (G282) M F Poon Over the final 50 Metres hung in, resulting in its rider M F Poon having to stop riding and straighten his mount approaching the winning post.

Horse No 11 MILLENNIUM FALCON (D281) L Hewitson Bumped at the start.

After the race, L Hewitson reported that whilst he was given no specific instructions, connections had expected him to take up a forward position.

He said after bumping with PODIUM at the start, MILLENNIUM FALCON failed to show sufficient pace to hold a forward position and as a result settled further back than what had been anticipated.
